House ( Camp ) Overlooking Walker Pond in Brooksville

This two and a half story, 2 bedroom house, nestled in the woods, and overlooking Walker Pond in Brooksville, Maine, is ideal for a family get-away, or a romantic honeymoon. As you sit on the deck, or venture out in the canoe or kayak, you will hear the loons calling across the lake and see the osprey and bald eagles soaring overhead.

There are 7 small markets or larger grocery stores within a 15 minute drive located in Brooksvile, Blue Hill, Deer Isle, Brooklin, Sedgwick, and Stonington.  There are also a multitude of  restaurants and and take-outs available within the same distance.  The local stores sell live lobsters, or you can venture down to Stonington for lobster fresh off the boat.

Blue Hill Heritage Trust and The Island Heritage Trust have worked hard to acquire local properties for community sue with walking trails, public beaches (both fresh water and salt water), and blueberry fields.  One walking trail is less than 1/4 mile from the house and provides astounding views of Penobscot Bay and Eggemoggin Reach.

Artists and artisans abound in the area, including metal work, fine art, pottery, porcelain, textiles, jewelry makers, and almost any other type of creative art you can imagine.

There are also antique stores, gift shops, wineries, farmers markets, and so much more!  Some of our local farmers make goat cheese of various types as well as their own sausages.

The town of Brooklin, home of E.B. White, Wooden Boat School, Brooklin Boatyard, Brooklin Candy Company and many other personal businesses, is about 20 minutes away.

Brooksville is located just a little over an hour from Bar Harbor, Camden, Bangor, and Castine.

The full granite top kitchen sports a dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator/freezer/ice maker, gas range with self-cleaning oven, and all of the necessities (pots, pans, dishware, utensils, etc.)  Linens and towels are also provided.

The fireplace adds just that right touch for a chilly late fall or winter evening or for that romantic touch.

A small dining area offers views through both a plate glass window and a sliding glass door, which opens to the full deck.

The master bedroom includes a queen size bed, a large closet, a night stand and a dresser.  It has a private entrance into the bathroom, which has a jetted tub and shower.

The open design of the main floor allows the family to continue conversations while cooking, cleaning up, playing a game or just relaxing.

The main entrance is on the ground floor, which is a daylight basement area. The second bedroom (at the base of the stairs) has a double bed, large closet, a dresser, and night stand.

This house is not recommended for children under 5, as the staircase is open, and unable to be barred off.  The main part of the house, including the only bathroom, is upstairs, so the ability to climb stairs is a must.

The open part of basement has a couch (which pulls out into a bed), TV (for DVD's or VCR's), nice granite topped desk, foosball table and a wood furnace for those times you might lose power (after all, this is the Maine woods!)

There is no internet or TV reception available, but you can use your own hot spot and device to access the outside world.
